Plantation House, whose history dates back more than two centuries, making it
the oldest home in Plaquemines Parish and an important example of French-Creole
architecture, will be sold at auction Saturday. Overlooking the Mississippi

Houmas House in Burnside, Louisiana. A very fine American inlaid cherrywood
armoire, c. 1800, (lot 408) sold for $35,650 (est. $10,000-$15,000), and an
American classical mahogany armoire, c. 1820, (lot 258) which brought $8,625.

February 8th and 9th, 2003 - Two Southern Regional Paintings Set Record Prices
at Neal Auction Company’s Winter Estates Auction The recent Winter
Estates Auction attracted exuberant bidding on furniture, decorative art, and
set artist record numbers for two paintings of Louisiana historical
significance. The paintings auctioned were: “Star Plantation, St. Charles,
Louisiana” by Marie Adrien Persac (French/Louisiana, 1823-1873), active New
Orleans, 1857-1872), estimated between $75,000 to $100,000, sold for an
incredible $195,000, (lot 321), and “Backyard in Algiers” by Richard Clague
(American/Louisiana, 1821-1873), estimated from $100,000 to $125,000, sold for
$189,500, (lot 356).
